I truly read this book in a day. That is the "trouble" with Le Veque book--you can hardly put them down. This is a story about two people who start out as enemies. As the come to really know one another attraction turns into love. But Kenton Le Bec is the classic career soldier who keeps his feelings buttoned up. The widow Nicola has been mentally and physically abused by her husband and has not known the love of a man. But these two damaged people grow to care for each other in a difficult time in English history. However there are the lighter times as Nicola's three little sons teach Kenton how to interact with rambunctious children. Throw into this mix misunderstanding and betrayal and guilt and the way to save our hero looks impossible. This is one of the things the author excels at--creating a situation that seems impossible to overcome--but she does. She also excels at writing about a beautiful, touching love. This book presents a love that not even the boundaries of time and death can keep apart. Kathryn Le Veque has written another timeless romance.

I was expecting more of a time traveling story, but it was more of another wonderful medieval story that Kathryn Le Veque can write so perfectly, making her stories so interesting and beloved. I love the fact that her books are true facts with lots of action and fantasy to make a woman's heart daydream after she's done reading the story.
I've read about le Bec in other stories, different eras but all sticking to the same families, ( my favorite houses ... de Wolfe, de Lohr), le Bec, de Russe, de Lara, St. Hever and so many more.
In this story all that is missing is how they died, how many children they had and what happened to the three boys Lady Le Bec already had.
I will keep on reading about the house of Le Bec and maybe I'll find out.
Again, Kathryn Le Veque has me losing sleep because I can't put a book down.
I really enjoyed this story of Kenton and Nicola’s story. Kenton is the classic career soldier who keeps his feeling inside. Nicola is widow who has never known love, especially the love of a good man. She has suffered from abuse both physically and mentally by her husband. Kenton and Nicola are two damaged souls who overcome their own demons and grow to care for each other in a difficult time in English history. The romance starts as the two suffer from misunderstandings, betrayal and then forgiveness with an eternal love for the ages. I loved Nicola’s three kids they made the book for me with their interactions with Kenton. Kathryn L Veque knows how to write a true love story and how people can overcome all obstacles that seem impossible to reach their happy ever after. My only complaint is the book could be longer. I love her EPIC books! Kathryn Le Veque’s writing is the best I’ve read and I can’t wait for the next book! 5 Stars!!!
I really do love the way Ms. Kathryn Le Veque instantly captivates and holds me spellbound with all of the wonderful stories she writes. This newest book in the de Wolfe pack is no exception the story really packs a punch and there is just so much to like in this book with amazing full developed major and minor characters, intriguing plot twists/turns, in depth battle scenes which are one of my favorite things about Ms. Le Veque’s books, funny moments, sad bits and romance all rolled into one that it really made the book such a page turner and difficult to put down!
Kenton le Bec a fierce warrior and knight must overtake and conquer an imposing fortress known as Babylon castle but this is not an easy feat because also the mistress and chatelaine of the castle Lady Nicola Thorne is quite a woman to be reckoned with. Kenton has definitely met his match in Nicola but can he avoid the attraction and love he feels for her or will there opposing views tear them apart?
I really did like Kenton he was such a great person and knight that from beginning to end I just loved him from the get go. He just seemed so real having to physically fight against others but then attempt to love but also hide it from Nicola wow what a true conflict! The poor guy seriously just needed a hug or be told how great he is once in a while. I guess that is what annoyed me a little about Nicola it took me quite a while to even like her that sometimes I felt a bit sorry for Kenton wanting him to find someone that at least trusts and can discuss everything with him. I guess at times I wanted to slap Nicola especially in how she treated not only Kenton but other characters maybe I just had to give her the benefit of the doubt considering everything she lived through but I went through different emotions from becoming exasperated one moment with her actions but then being okay with her the next. One good thing though Ms. Le Veque brought some much loved characters from previous books from Matthew Wellsbourne from the white lord of Wellsbourne to Gaston de Russe dark one dark knight along for the ride with some other much loved minor characters that I can’t wait to hear more about them. I did find this book sadder in many places throughout the book however that I seemed to do quite a bit of crying considering the heartrending emotions that this book entails and everything all the characters go through especially the main protagonists. I still enjoyed the book immensely rated it four stars, will reread it again, can recommend it and will definitely get more books from Ms. Le Veque!
Just finished this book and again Kathryn had me in tears at the end. I have read all of her books and can't wait for her next one. Every one of them are connected to all the different families in her earlier ones and it is so great to read about Sons and Grandsons of earlier Characters in her books. Also her research of the historical events she writes her stories around are great and with heartwarming love stories. She is absolutely one of the best writers of Medieval History , with only one or two others and she is friends with them. I am looking forward to her next book , which I have pre-ordered already. I hope she will write a sequel to Walls of Babylon to find out about Nicola and Kenton in the future , if she was pregnant and about Her Boys , Tab ,Tiernan and Teague . If you love Medieval History then her books are an absolute Joy in reading.
