Another hit.
I mean, out of the park.

I sort of wish I was a geek because some of the references were way over my head. Maybe it was wanna be 90s thug self listening to Tupac ... But I have no idea what some of Amanda's likes were. And you know - it doesn't matter.

This book was wonderful. Smart and funny. Sexy and gross. Witty and wise.

Blake was dreamy and nerdy and manly but not alpha annoying.

Amanda was a girl I would be friends with even if I am little more of a younger Ana (at heart, I mean - I do love make-up).

Go read it. Now.

Smut A Standalone Romantic Comedy edition by Karina Halle Romance eBooks Reviews

Overall Opinion This was a fun and light read full of dorky references. It doesn't have much drama, but it doesn't have much depth -- BUT I was fully entertained! They had cute interactions, and I always enjoy the hate-to-friends-to-lovers-to-love theme ;). So for those looking for a low drama, sexy, and something with an unique storyline -- this a good one to pick up!

**See goodreads.com/NMmomof4 for my full review with spoilers**

Brief Summary of the Storyline This is Amanda and Blake's story. They are in a creative writing class together, and are assigned to write a novella together as a final project. They hate each other, but both admit to themselves that they are attracted to one another and have to get through this project. After some bumps, they end up successfully writing their novella and getting along. They then decide to start a new venture together in writing erotica novellas. They form a friendship that turns into more, and they fall in love. There are some laugh out loud moments, some hot sexy times, and a little drama...but they get a HFN ending.

POV This alternated between Amanda and Blake's POV.

Overall Pace of Story Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well. It did have the conflict ending right at the end with the epilogue to immediately follow (which I normally hate), but for some reason it didn't bother me as much in this one.

Instalove No, they progressed into love.

H rating 4 stars. Blake. I liked how he grew to love the h, and that we got to really experience that. I did have issues with some of his inner dialogue at the beginning about his ex, but I was really happy when that ended and he became all about the h. I loved his interactions with his step-brother and "fluffy"!!

h rating 4 stars. Amanda. I liked her. She was kind of socially awkward, and a little judgemental -- but aren't we all at times?!? I loved her relationship with her roommate, because I felt it showed her sweet side that she didn't show everyone.

Sadness level Low, no tissues required.

Heat level Moderate. They take a while to be intimate, but then they have hot chemistry and scenes.

Descriptive sex Yes

Safe sex Yes. They use condoms until they have a birth control, std testing, and monogamous talk.

OW/OM drama Yes, but mild

Sex scene with OW or OM No

Cheating No

Possible Triggers Not really (just mentions of the H being a manwhore before h)

Closure This had a cute jump ahead epilogue, but it wasn't enough for me to call it a HEA ending. I would call it a HFN ending.

How I got it I paid the $2.99 on .
I found Smut to be the perfect read. I am really not the biggest fan of romantic comedies but I loved Smut. I found myself laughing all the time and the humor did not seem force at all. It was natural and entertaining and at the same time it felt serious when it came to the attraction and the love between the hero and the heroine. It was very easy to read and super sexy. Karina Halle never disappoints and once again she transported me to places while reading that I have never been before. Amazing secondary characters such as Amanda's roommate Ana, her friend Rio and Blake's stepbrother, Kevin. One of the aspects I loved about it is that it was based on two writers and how life is at the other end of the tunnel. As a woman who reads a lot it was a topic that was pertinent to me and I could totally relate. It was hillarious to read how they came about finding pen names, possible titles and the best part how some of the scenes became reality. I have deep admiration for this author's versatility. And well the passion between Amanda and Blake is combustive. That library scene though....you have to read it and live it!
I was filled with anticipation from the beginning and I finished this book thinking I can't believe I just loved a romantic comedy this much. And I can write a lot about Fluffy but I'm going to let you meet Fluffy on your own. This is what reading is all about for me. Thank you, Karina for another unforgettable adventure.
