Wilhelmina Grimm (publicly known as Mina Grime), is the great-great-lots more greats granddaughter of Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm, better known as the brother's Grimm. Generally known, the brother's were great fairy-tale writers that traveled the world and wrote incredible stories. Less well-known is the fact that they didn't actually write these stories, they were a part of them. Each story being a quest that they completed for the fae (fairies) and the ruling King and Queen of the fae, known as the Fates. Wilhelm and Jacob made a deal with the fae to stop the evil fae from coming to the human plane and feasting on innocent humans. The Fates agreed, so long as Wilhelm and Jacob could complete all of the fairy tale story quests. The brothers agreed to the terms, unaware that if they failed to finish all of the quests then the agreement would fall to their children. Now, generations later, Mina has been bestowed the family "curse" to complete the fairy tale quests that the brother's originally agreed to. Another unfortunate side-effect of the deal that the Fates didn't exactly explain was that whenever one of the Grimms died, all of the quests started over. All of the quests had to be completed and fulfilled by one individual.
Generations of Grimms have fought against the fae, trying to overcome the story, complete the tales, and ride the human world (and their family) of the fae curse. Mina, sheltered and unaware of the family curse due to her mother's constant vigilance, moving, and even going as far as changing their family name and cutting ties with all known relations, has now stumbled into her family curse. The storybook fairy tales and the family curse have finally caught up with her and her family and Mina realizes if her family is ever going to be free or able to live their lives (and further more if she wants to protect her 8 year-old mute brother from inheriting the curse in her place) she has to fulfill the family curse and somehow beat what not other Grimm has been able to before.
After completing several quests and learning that Jared isn't just Fae, but son of the Fates and the crown Prince on the fae plane, Mina also learns that Jared's brother Teague, is the one she is fighting. He is the story. He writes her quests, throws the stories at her, and throws her into whatever role he wants her to play. At the end of the last book, Mina declares war on Teague and stated that she won't do his bidding. Not being used to, or okay with being ignored Teague strikes back at the things that Mina loves most, stealing what is most precious to her. Will Mina get it back? Will she be able to complete her Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale? Keep her family safe? Survive? Everything is crazy, chaos, and of course magical as Mina rushed against all odds to protect those she loves.
Good book recommend for females, teenage age, high school level. Deals with subjects of magic, fantasy, fitting in, communication, and understanding others differences.

Fable An Unfortunate Fairy Tale Book 3 eBook Chanda Hahn Steve Hahn Joy Sillesen Reviews

Whoa.
Just whoa.
When I read the first two books in the Unfortunate Fairy Tale series, I didn't expect to fall in love with the series. Well, now I am in love with the series and the characters. Not a fan of Brody, though, sorry...
Anyway.
This is what you feel like when you read Fable by Chanda Hahn.
First, you feel pretty good, and excited, hungry to know what is going to happen next. So far, so good, you're into it...then something happens, and you start to panic. You're like...what? You can't believe it. Neither can Mina. You start to get scared, nervous that something else is going to happen that is going to be bad.
Well, you start to relax when nothing bad happens. There are good, funny parts that make you laugh or smile. Then you reach the, No! part. Then later on, things get better, and you're like, whoa, this is awesome, I love this book, oh my gosh is this really happening?
And then, you reach, THE PART. The Part of horror that scares you, makes you cry, makes you panic, You cry, you sob, you beg, no, no, no! And then you have to wait for Reign, and guys, Reign doesn't really help that much, sorry.

Okay. This book is amazing. This book is worth the read, please, please, please read it! It is really, really good, though the end isn't all that great. Why I love Fable.
SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love it when Mina and Jared have their tickle fight. When they laughed and tickled each other, and had a good time, I was happy because they were happy. When Jared said that he was there for her when she was scared to go to school because Charlie was dead, gone, she believed him. And then Mina and Jared go to this certain place, and I love it when he grabs her before she falls. I also love it when they ride his motorcycle together. And at the end, when he kissed her, I was so, so, so, so happy, I screamed with delight, happy that they were having their happily-ever-after.
Then stupid Teague has to go and ruin the moment by stabbing Jared. Teague tricks Mina and now she is alone without Jared. In Forever, Jared better come back!
This book is really good. Please get it.
All that glitters is not gold...
Not all fairy tales have a happy ending.

Mina doesn't want to do the quests anymore and has tried to ignore it all. However the Story wasn't happy with it or her and gave her a massive push.

Now Mina is torn. She is torn in ways a young women shouldn't have to ever face. A choice must be made. Save her little brother or to keep the trust that has been given with her and Jared. To save her brother she not only has to betray Jared but cross over into the Fae Plane knowing this risks and the dangers that will be there.

Mina thinks she's alone but surprising new friends show up to help. Is she strong enough to complete this task and save her brother or is everything too much for her to handle.

This story and this entire series is beautifully written. It captures you from start to end. The amount of detail in these books make you not only feel as though you are experiencing everything but it draws the whole book into a way it's like your seeing exactly what the characters are seeing and feeling. This series is a must read. Trust me, you won't see the fairy tales you grew up with the same!!!
