The characters are written so vividly, you feel as if you are Audrey going through everything she endures. The author paints a picture with her words and it's as if you're transported to Alabama where they drink sweet tea and say y'all.

It is the story of a one girl's terrible situation and she finds a way to overcome the crappy hand life has dealt her. You will love Caleb. He is a great guy, but not so perfect that he's not believable.

I am anxiously awaiting the next release from this talented new author!

The heading of this review says it all. Ms. Jansen's debut novel is truly that, fantastic. It is an emotional roller-coaster ride that made me smile and want to cry. The relationships the heroine Audrey has with her sisters, Anna, and especially Caleb are described in a way that make you really like her and want everything to work out for the best. I can't wait to read what this new author gives us next. Maybe she will give us more from this trio of sisters, and maybe a way to check-in on Audrey and Caleb?
I really really enjoyed this book. Honestly, I forgot what it was about and the title nor the cover art gave me any idea so I just started reading it and found myself hooked. It was full of great characters and an interesting story that captivated me. Definitely recommend!
Such a sad but realistic story so many kids have been threw this,and some have found themself,others never get the chance,bless people like Anne that can open her heart and change that, read this in one day and recommend this book to the young and not so young,well done great book.
Bittersweet Hope what an amazing book! This story steal my heart from beginning to end. Three sisters fight against horrible odds and trying to hold on to each other, Audrey is oldest and lead character. She is loving, wise and will do anything for her sister's. I really hope to see more of the Emerson sister's in the near future.
I really enjoyed this book! This book was suggested to me buy another author whose books I love to read, Megan Isbell Nugen! Her Home series is fantastic!!! My only con is that I wish the book was a little longer and went into more detail about Caleb's and Audrey's relationship! Maybe there could be a second book that talks about what happens with them! I would def. by a second book!I would recommend this book to anyone!
Stayed up until 100 AM to finish this book. I was captivated by the storyline from the very beginning. A very good example of how when life deals you a terrible hand, there is still hope. It is the way you deal with the situation that determines the final outcome. Even though this book is not a religious book, it renews faith that a higher power has control and good people DO still exist. The little bit of salty language was necessary to amplify already dire situations. I enjoyed this as a senior adult and would recommend it to anyone 16 or older but you have to remember that I am a little bit "old school". Can not believe a first time author produced such a polished work. Can hardly wait for her to write MORE!

This book was awesome and not at all like I thought it would be. I loved the struggling oldest sister, Audrey, trying to provide for her two younger sisters because their mom, a prostitute and addict, never supports them. When there mom is murdered things take a turn at first the girls believe it's a turn for the worse. As the girls learn to except their new foster lives, they realize things may not be as bad as they first thought. When the youngest sister, Sadie, takes a turn for the worst Audrey knows she must protect her sister from turning into their mom. Audrey is starting to open up to things due to the handsome son of her foster mother, Caleb. Audrey knows she must save her sister and when expected trouble finds Audrey she figured her end must be soon, and that she is destined to die too. Will the love between Caleb and Audrey be enough? Or will they loose what they have? To find out just read the book.
